An Indie author is a writer who publishes their work independently (self-published) or with the help of a small press (hybrid) publisher.
Self-publishing authors are responsible for editing, producing, distributing, and marketing the books they write. While self-published authors may outsource for editing and cover design, they hold complete control of the process.
Hybrid published authors pay the small press publisher to manage these tasks and the publication process for them.
While the Tasmanian Indie Author group welcomes hybrid authors, we strongly advocate self-publishing.
